Setting up a mail account in MicroSoft Outlook and Outlook Express

Outlook Express

Chick on Tools and select Accounts from the drop-down menu.

Click the Add button.
Select Mail from the pop-up menu.

In the Display name: field type in your full name or whatever you would like people to see in the From field on emails you are sending.

Type your email address into the text box, this must all be in lower case.
Click Next.

Enter the incoming and outgoing server details as detailed in the dial-up settings supplied to you.

In the Account Name field type in a name to identify the account.
In the Password field type your password.
If you do not wish to type in your password every time you check your mail, tick the Remember password box.
Click Next

Select the I will establish my Internet connection manually radio button.

Click Finish to complete the account setup.

 

Outlook 2000

Click on Tools in the top menu and select E-mail Accounts...

On the E-mail accounts page select the Add a new e-mail account radio button. Click Next

On the Server Type page select the POP3 radio button Click Next

You will now see the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) page

You will need the e-mail set-up details that we sent you when you joined.

In the Your Name: field enter the name you would like displayed on your e-mails

In the E-mail Address: field enter your e-mail address as per your joining instructions

In the User Name: field enter your username as per your joining instructions.

In the Incoming mail server (POP3): field enter the incoming mail server details as per your joining instructions (typically this will be mail.your-domain-name)

In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): field enter the outgoing mail server details as per you joining instructions (typically this will be mail.your-domain-name)

Click Next

On the Internet E-mail Settings page select the Connection tab

Select the your method of connection.

Select the Outgoing Server tab

Ensure there is a tick in the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication tick box

Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button

Click OK

Note: if you are experiancing problems sending email, you may have to remove this tick.

 

You will receive a Congratulations! page confirming set-up

Click Finish to complete set-up
